15 halloween activities with the kids

October means autumn is in full swing with colourful autumn leaves, chunky knitwear weather, pumpkin patches, and, of course, all things Halloween.

It’s an exciting time of year, especially for kids!

Yup, there are people out there who are lovers of the summer and don’t like the colder days and the darker nights drawing in.
But that’s not me!
There’s no need to lock yourself away for autumn. There’s plenty of fun still to be had!

So here’s my little list of family fun activities to do throughout October!

Of course we have to start with visiting the pumpkin patch. Our favourite pumpkin patch day out has to be atΒ Burton Farm. My kids love it and I absolutely love it. It’s one of our favourite places to go. A great day out filled with so much Halloween and autumn fun and, of course, finding the biggest pumpkin in the patch.

Go stargazing! October is the perfect time to get outside, wrap up snug and warm and lay under the stars. Take some blankets, a hot flaskΒ of soup to keep your belly warm and a telescope or pair of binoculars for a real family moment.

Make Halloween treats. This could be baking pumpkin shaped rice Kristie cakes to rock candies to chocolate sweets for trick or treaters. There’s a world of recipes online!

Go conker picking and have a conker war. Please play responsibly, health and safety first of course!

It’s not just pumpkins that need picking. It’s potatoes too! Head down to your local allotments or farm and see what you can find. Always ask permission before pulling out other people’s potatoes. Go on long woodland or lakeside walks. Wrapping up warm and walking in the crisp fresh air is great for the soul. Sipping on a hot cuppa tea by the lake. Bliss! Even the children enjoy skimming stones and seeing their breath in the air.

Love the witches brew idea and the fact that you haven’t relegated sparklers to New Year’s Eve. Definitely adding some of these to our Autumn bucket list
