What mum never told you about the summer holidays being over

Congratulations! You’ve made it to the end of the summer holidays!

After what feels like months rather than weeks of trying to keep the children entertained during the long summer break, any mother would be excited and relieved for the new school term to begin – now, that’s not to say that we haven’t had fun because we have!! A whole heap of fun! Mounds of fun in fact! The holidays have been awesome! But gosh, it’ll be nice to get back to a bit of normality.

Aah, and relax … is it just me or is there something rather nice about the kids going back to school? You can enjoy a sense of getting back to normal and finally get stuff done, like …

Drinking a WHOLE HOT cup of tea

Yep, starting with the most important thing mums can do now the kids are back at school. Sit down, take five minutes and give yourselves a big pat on the back. We made it! *high five mums*

Feet up

Clearing the clutter

The kids’ rooms – actually make that all the rooms in the house – look like they have been hit by a seven-week nuclear-toy-bomb. Ugh! Good luck mums!

Shopping without the mini-helpers

Phew, a whole summer break of making breakfasts, elevenses, twosies, threesies, lunches, picnics, snacks, dinners … They eat like every five minutes!

At least now you can think straight when you do your weekly shop … and maybe get some biscuits for that hot cuppa!

Working without feeling guilty

Your child had seven weeks off (Seven!!! Seriously!!!?). Working parents got er, like two – if you were lucky. Back to it mums, back to it!

Put your feet up

Ha ha ha – Yeah right, I know, It never happens. Before you know it, it’s time to pick them up from school!

Oh well, there’s always tomorrow …

However you have spent the summer holidays, I hope you have had fun together and made some amazing family memories. For us – this year’s holidays were worth remembering, but for now, I’ll be happy to be getting back to our normal routine.

happy adventures

nay nay x

Loved your post! I know I was ecstatic when school started! Unfortunately, I didn’t get any time off with my 6 year old, but we made the most of it. I look forward to reading more posts!
