February half term is here!

No doubt you’re racking your brains trying to come up with some activities to keep the kids amused.

Here are a few ideas to keep your little ones entertained this half term!

Visit a museum

Take your kids to a gallery or museum. Many hold free kids activities over the school holidays. Check what’s on at your local museum and don’t forget to take a packed lunch as well. This means you won’t end up blowing your money in the coffee shop afterwards. Bonus!

Go swimming

Lots of councils offer free swimming to children under 16 in the school holidays. Check with your local council if they offer this. Okay, you’ll have to pay to go in the pool with them, but your kids can splash about to their heart’s content for free. Bargain!

Go on a nature trail

It’s amazing what a bit of fresh air can do. Get your wellies on, wrap up warm and head to your local nature reserve / forest and have a scavenger hunt. You can print a ‘find it list’ online. The kids will love it! Don’t mind the mud – it will wash off – they do say “the best days end with the dirtiest of clothes”, just bung a change of clothes in the car for the journey home, sorted!

Get baking

Don’t stress out about the mess! I know it’s hard. Working with food for a living I do find it difficult to switch off when baking with my kids — but I do try so hard to bite my tongue and just let them have fun and they absolutely love it! They’re little faces once they see the end result is just priceless! Go on – get that apron on!

Visit a farm

Head down to your local farm and have a day of fun. Lots of farms have children’s activities on over the half term where your children can help out with jobs such as feeding the animals. Check online beforehand to see what’s on. It’s such a great experience for the children to feed the animals, collect the hens eggs or milk a cow. Or even a have a little bet on the sheep racing! That’s always a giggle.
Making memories that last.

Have a games day

Roll out the board games, stock up on junk food, chuck some pillows and blankets on the floor and have a day of chilled out fun. . . And if the kids get bored, whack a film on — Netflix and popcorn! Movie Day, sorted – parenting win!

Half term ideas

Feed the ducks

Always a firm favourite with the kids. Even though it only seems like a five minute task the kids are out of the house and getting some fresh air. Plus, if you have a local park with a duck pond – grab yourself a coffee and have five minutes peace whilst the kids burn off some energy!

Half term ideas

Visit a garden centre

Lots of garden centres have children’s activities on over the half term, check online to see what’s on. Many have craft sessions or animal handling sessions which usually only charge a small fee!
