moments of june

June was a pretty awesome month for us.

At first, we had very little planned and we were all set for a quiet month saving the pennies – but that soon changed.

It all started with an invite through the post for my brothers wedding! (We actually knew about this long in advance as I was a bridesmaid ). Cue a trip to Cheshire Oaks for pretty dresses and shoes for the girls. Such a fab place for discounted brands. We even ended up buying our first Christmas present! How prepared are we!

Next up was the big day – our first (immediate) family wedding! I’m not sure how the bride and groom felt but being a bridesmaid was so emotional and nerve wracking for me! All them people watching me (literally sprint) down the aisle. We had a lovely girly morning having our make up and hair done, being pampered with a glass or two of bubbly. It was nice. My big brother finally getting wed! There was a proper buzz in the air that day and everyone could feel it. A few glasses of fizz later and I was happily relaxed (and a little bit tipsy) enjoying the day feeling all emotional, dancing the night away. The bride looked gorgeous, my brother scrubbed up well and the venue was just beautiful. The kids looked gorgeous too in their new dresses and they had lots of fun playing with friends and family. Such a lovely day.

Operation ‘do-up-the-house’ kicked in and it started to resemble a builders yard very quickly as we had workmen digging up the garden and patio, the drive way, the car port and we even had the bathroom ripped out! Ugh it’s been a tough month living in a pigsty, washing my hair (and the kids) in the kitchen sink and trying keep the house clean with all the rubble and brick dust flying about but there’s light at the end of the tunnel and we’re very near completion now. Thank goodness! So happy with how it’s all looking so far too! Definitely worth the dirt for a few weeks, even if it has been a tad bit stressful for my cleanliness ocd!

In between all the housework and builders myself and the boy took a weekend break away to London. The most amazing mini weekend break we’ve had away together by far. We had tickets to see my ultimate idol Bon Jovi live at Wembley – which was just unbelievably awesome in every way, a night I will never forget! We visited the Natural History Museum and the Science Museum, which were both awesome and a tick off the bucket list – I even held the moon! So much walking around London, out feet’s were aching from all the shopping! Oh! – and we even tried our first ‘Five Guys’ – a little late to the party I know, but well worth it! Totally delicious!

Along the way we had a few celebratory meals out with the kids for doing so well with their practise SATS exams and phonics tests for the little one, also getting bumped up in their reading groups and spelling groups. So so proud! Keep it up kids!

We also started planning our summer holiday activities too! (Check us our being so prepared this year!) I asked the kids what they wanted to do over the summer holidays and their reply was “well aren’t we making a summer bucket list?” So that’s exactly what we have done… everything for six whole weeks of summer … even including those British summer rainy days!

Similar to you all, we had planned a less eventful month—even though we knew that we had two trips planned. We usually use the beginning of summer to unwind a little, but just like you, it has been quite a whirlwind. Because our businesses are taking off a little, we have had to adjust our plans. Thanks for sharing some of your journey.

  3. Great post. I love their dresses…so cute and summery. My June went pretty well. I’m definitely enjoying the rest of my summer before my daughter starts her first day of school which is so bittersweet! Luckily we have a month before that time comes so we’re making use of the month. Haha.
